Today AMD announced that it would appoint Mike Rayfield as the new senior vice president and general manager of AMD Radeon Technologies Group (RTG). It also announced that it would appoint David Wang as the senior vice president of engineering for RTG. Rayfield will be in charge of the business strategy and management aspects of RTG, while Wang will be in charge of graphics engineering, technical strategy, architecture, hardware, and software.
The President of AMD, Dr. Lisa Su, stated that she is confident that Radeon will continue to grow across the gaming, immersive, and GPU computing markets with the new leadership changes.
Mike Rayfield brings more than thirty years of technology industry experience to AMD. In the past he has focused on building deep customer relationships. Rayfield comes from Micron Technology, where he was the senior vice president and general manager of Crucial’s Mobile Business Unit. Additionally, Mike Rayfield has worked with NVIDIA on such products like Tegra (mobile GPU).
David Wang brings over twenty five years of graphics and silicon development experience to AMD. He has deep technical expertise. Want rejoins AMD from Synaptics, where he worked on silicon systems development. Wang has made many developments while at AMD and Synaptics in the past.
