2014 Annual Conference of Chinese Society of Engineering Thermophysics (CSET), sponsored by CSET and Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU), was successfully held in Xi’an. Over 2500 experts from universities, institutions and companies participated in this distinguished gathering from Oct.31 to Nov. 2.
The opening ceremony of the conference was held in Shaanxi Hotel on the morning of Nov.1st, 2014. JIN Hongguang, secretary general of CSET hosted the conference. XU Jianzhong, president of Chinese Society of Engineering Thermophysics; WAHNG Shuguo, president of XJTU, LI Ming, deputy director of Department of Engineering & Material Sciences, National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC); ZHU Junqiang, deputy director of Institute of Engineering Thermophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences made opening address respectively.
The annual conference was composed of three parts: Invited Lectures, Lectures at Parallel Sessions and Symposium. Four experts from home and abroad gave special talks, including XU Jianzhong, academician of the Chinese Academy of Science, Aircraft Engine and Engineering Thermophysics; Prof. Noam Lior from Department of Mechanical Engineering and Applied Force, University of Pennsylvania, Advancing Combustion as a Transdisciplinary Thermal Science; and WANG Zhongying, research fellow of Energy Research Institute National Development and Reform Commission, China’s Energy Revolution Should Follow the Path of Renewable Energy Development.
6 branches and 106 symposiums were included in this conference with 2208 papers collected. Representatives made discussion and communication on the basic, forefront and hot spots of engineering thermophysics and the discipline of energy use as well as problems related to national economic construction.
At the same time, experts exchanged ideas about the major progress, achievements as well as the new growing points in the field of engineering thermophysics. A series of workshops were also held during the conference, such as strategic workshop of frontier growing point development, internal flow symposium and academic planning workshop which helps point the way to the development of engineering thermophysics.
