EPE will cooperate withUniversity of Minnesota to establish a Joint Thermal Fluid Lab

On the morning of May 27, 2014, a delegation of University of Minnesota led by President Eric W. Kaler visited XJTU. WANG Shuguo, president of XJTU, welcomed them at 107 office in Science Hall. FENT Zhenping, dean of School of Energy and Power Engineering also participated.

WANG Shuguo expressed the wishes to strengthen the cooperation in the field of talent cultivation and scientific research between two universities in order to improve international education level. President Kaler introduced his members and 9 corporate partners including Center for Filtration Research, particularly the cooperative pattern with enterprises as well as measures that have taken to protect IPR. President WANG agreed to cooperate with enterprises which can help universities develop scientific research through identifying market demand and sci-tech information. WANG hoped the two universities to learn from each other and promote cooperation in terms of production, study and research.

During the meeting, President Wang awarded President Kaler a certificate recognizing him as an honorary professor of XJTU. And, a memorandum of cooperation between two universities was signed. According to the agreement, School of EPE in XJTU will establish a Joint Thermal Fluid Lab with University of Minnesota for the purpose of conducting cooperative research in heat energy and engineering.

After the meeting, President Kaler presented a report titled “The University of Minnesota: An American Research University in the 21st Century”, to introduce the strong research capability and corporate partners of the university as well as its influence to Minnesota and USA. Over 200 students from ENP attended the lecture.
